Specialized Duathlon at UMS boast 350 participants


KOTA KINABALU: All systems are go with this weekend’s Specialized Duathlon at UMS which will involve 350 participants and over 100 volunteers.

The participants will be coming from all over Sabah, Labuan, Kuching, KL and a strong team from Brunei. 

Race Director, Douglas Yu said, “We are excited to get the support from City Hall, Kinabalu Running Club, Polis DiRaja Malaysia and Sabah Amateur Radio Society (SARS) for our second duathlon event this year which has an extended distance.

Our title sponsor Specialized is an important partner and we hope to partner for more projects next time.

It will be an action-packed race with many familiar names in the list and notable challengers.

We acknowledge the growing interest coming from our neighbour Brunei, as well as seasoned athletes from KL. We hope organising events like this will attract more of them to visit our State.”

Duathlon this year is 4km run, 40km bike and 8km run, is also sponsored by Buzz Print, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 100 Plus, Red Bull and Brooks.

The event is organized by Performance Sportz and co-organized by Kinabalu Running Club.

The categories are Men Open, Women Open, Men’s Relay team, Mixed Relay team.

The programme will be flag off by Douglas at 6.30am and the first duathlete/relay team expected to finish at 8.30am.

Followed by the prize presentation ceremony and lucky draw prizes including Specialized Shiv Time Trial time worth RM20,000 at 9am and the whole event is expected to end by 11am-Sayangsabah.
