KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested two male suspects believed to be stealing spare tires.
A 0.59 second video showing the suspects stealing spare tires was spread in the social media and made viral by the public.
Following the incident, the police took immediate action to find the suspects and their vehicle used to commit the crime.
District Police Chief, ACP M. Chandra, said in 19 February ago, near Blok L Taman Sri Rugading, Tuaran, the police have arrested two suspects and one of them was the man captured in the viral clip.
“The suspects are believed to be involved with four cases of stolen spare tires in Menggatal and Inanam, with total loss of RM1,400,” he said.
It was also discovered that both of them have past criminal records, where the 36-year-old suspect was once caught in 2007 and 2014 for charges under Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 195, while the 23-year-old suspect was arrested in 2015 for similar offense.
Chandra also advises the public to properly lock their spare tires to prevent them from being stolen.
The case was investigated under Section 379A(1) which carries the punishment of one to seven years jail and a fine. –SayangSabah
