SEREMBAN: Two policemen detained by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday for allegedly soliciting for and receiving bribe from a suspect in a drug-related case have been remanded.

Negri Sembilan MACC director Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the two police sergeants, aged 30 and 28, have been remanded for six days and three days respectively, starting today.

Yesterday, MACC detained the duo near a restaurant in Temiang here at 7.30 pm. The two, attached to the Seremban district police headquarters’ Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, were detained after a 36-year-old construction worker lodged a complaint that the policemen had asked for RM2,800 before he
handed over RM500.

They are suspected of soliciting for and receiving money from the complainant to change the results of the urine tests by the Chemistry Department to negative on the drug samples.- BERNAMA
