KOTA KINABALU: Abusing the social media platform will only lead to Malaysians losing their Asian values and willing to go against the government openly.
Malaysian Minister of Communication and Multimedia, Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, said it becomes worse when inaccurate information which will tarnish the government’s image is being disseminated.
“As a civil servant, we need to always adhere to the regulation and laws on social media.
“All government employees should practice safety and protect the government’s secret for the sake of the country,” he said during the Federal Public Employees Assembly, here.
Following the progress of information technology, he said uncertified government information could be leaked even before it is validated.
Relevant agencies should take measure in preventing the leakage of government’s secret, he stressed.
If public employees understand the government’s aspiration, they will contribute in the effort to achieve the developed nation status, he added.
“They should facilitate services for consumers and not make it complex.
“The speed in sharing information by using the correct channel is important,” he explained. -SayangSabah
