TAWAU: Small time traders in the district are urged to improve their economy situation by doing diverse business.

Deputy Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat, said the foothold that these small traders have in the economy depends on their capabilities to grab existing opportunities.

“Business people wanting to get profit from the economy should change the flow of the economy themselves,” she said during the opening ceremony of the Tanjong Batu Tengah Economy Market at Dataran Pasaran Ekonomy Tanjong Batu Tengah, here, recently.

The Tanjong Batu Assemblyperson also said they will not be left behind if they follow the changing trend in the market by providing additional services to attract costumers, adding that the concept has been proven effective for all kinds of businesses.

Commenting on the Economy Market, she said it is one step forward for Bumiputera small traders in marketing their agricultural products.

“I am happy that the people and local traders benefit from the opportunities provided by the opening of the Economy Market, where they can sell their agricultural products and generate income for their families.

“The community should be aware that the government does not sideline development aspect and the interest of the people in rural areas, including in Tawau,” she added.
