GEORGE TOWN: The police have detained a man to facilitate investigations into a machete attack on a Bangladeshi at a food court in Jalan Tun Syed Barakhbah here last night.
Northeast District police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 24-year-old suspect was picked up about 3.20am today, at an apartment in Sungai Pinang here.
He said in the 9pm incident, the 45-year-old foreigner was at the Medan Renong food court when the suspect attacked him with a machete.
“Passers-by helped to diffuse the situation and the victim was treated for slash wounds on the head,” he told reporters here today.
Mior Faridalatrash said initial investigations revealed the suspect, who had a criminal record, was unhappy over the Bangladeshi’s friendship with his mother.- BERNAMA
