SUNGAI PETANI: Six siblings aged between seven and 15 seek immediate approval for their birth certificate applications to enable them to enter school this year.
Mohd Shukri Abdul Aziz, 15, Mohd Syafiq, 13, Mohd Anwar, 11, Mohd Haikal, 9, Mohd Kabil, 8, and Nurul Soleha, 7, who formerly lived in Kampung Kolam, Padang Besar, Perlis, are now staying with their uncle, Ahmad Meera Hussin, 40, in Taman Orkid, near here after being abandoned by their parents since November.
Mohd Shukri said he attended school until Standard Six, while Mohd Syafiq managed to do so until Standard Three, but their other siblings never got the chance.
“I was disappointed and frustrated when asked to quit school at Standard Six because I don’t have birth certificate. I really hope to go back to school and for all my siblings to attend school as any normal children,” he told reporters today.
Their uncle, Ahmad, also expressed hope that the relevant quarters would help his nephews and niece to obtain their birth certificates to enable them to attend school.
“After they moved in with me, I tried to send them to school, but they were rejected because they have no birth certificates,” he added.- BERNAMA
