NABAWAN: A single mother and her two children lost everything when their house in Kg. Lima Nabawan was destroyed by fire, yesterday.
The victim, Martina Ansinut, along with her children were at their relative’s house for family party when the fire occurred.
“We were aware with the fire through our neighbours, but we cannot do anything because the fire spread quickly. Fortunately one of our neighbours called the fire department for help,” she said.
She lost all the inheritance from her late husband who died several years ago, but managed to save important documents including their identification cards.
NabawanFire and Rescue Association (PBS) Volunteer chairman, Suhailin Arshad, said that they received a call around 10.00pm regarding the fire, and rushed to the scene with one firetruck crewed by six of PBS personnels.
“When we arrived, the fire has engulfed the house, but we managed to control the fire from spreading to another house which is just a few metres away. Using PBS machineries to utilize the nearby pond water we successfully extinguish the fire half an hour later,” he said. – SayangSabah
