KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Housing and Real Estates Association (Shareda) will be holding its 22nd annual general meeting cum election of office bearers for the term 2015-2017 scheduled on March 7.
During that time the president post is open for anyone to contest in its president Datuk Francis Goh when announcing the coming AGM cum election yesterday.
“There is no internal arrangement for certain individual or past council members to be assigned for certain post. Even if there is anyone who like to contest the president post, they are welcome to do so.”
“As all has been resolved during recent council meeting that all past office bearers are free to contest in any post which they deem appropriate,” he said adding this democratic process should be practiced in each of the association’s election for the advancement and progress of Shareda. .
Francis said: “Shareda belongs to 183 members and I welcome every member who wish to contribute their time and knowledge to come forward and participate in the nomination and election, the more the merrier.”
All members had been notified in a preliminary notice for the forthcoming AGM and calling for motions for discussion and motions for amendment of the clauses on the rules and constitution of Shareda and nominations for the election of office bearers
This year’s office bearers have increased from 15 to 18 members as approved by Registrar of Societies at the 2014’s AGM, said Francis who took office for the term 2013-2015.
“There has been a lot of new blood in our current team and a very dynamic mixed of elite developers, professionals and youth,” he said adding he was pleased with his members for all their effortless contributions towards the success of the association to achieve its objects for the betterment of the property development industry in the state and county.
The post to be contested are president, a deputy president, two vice presidents, a secretary-general, a treasurer-general and six ordinary council members and another five office bearers namely, an assistant secretary-general, a chairperson of the youth committee and three ordinary council members shall be nominated and appointed by the elected president during the first council meeting.
“I urge members who are willing to serve the association to come forward and submit your completed nomination form to the Shareda secretariat before 2pm by February 12,” called Francis.
Thereafter the nominations will be closed and announcement of the list of line-up candidates vying for the desired posts before casting of votes on the actual day. All members to refer to the notice and attachments sent to you or call the secretariat office if required clarifications, he said.
He also reminded all members to settle all their dues and subscription fee of RM1,000 and building fund of RM100 per annum, before the AGM to entitle and enjoy all the membership privileges.- Sayangsabah.
