KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) paid a courtesy call on Kota Kinabalu City Hall Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir at his office in Centre Point Sabah recently.
The visit was led by SHAREDA president Datuk Francis Goh to introduce to the Mayor the new office bearers of the association for the 2015-2017 term as well as to share opinions and developers views on how to improve Kota Kinabalu City as a catalyst growth city.
Francis expressed his views on the developers’ concerns to the Mayor on the delivery system for approval of Development Plan (DP), which takes about three years to complete and proposed a ‘top down system’ to shorten the procedure by at least 12 months of which the Mayor concurred so long it is within the framework of the law provisions in the planning act approved by the State Sabah.
Francis lauded that the Central Board has improved tremendously in the past 1 year to minimise and shortened the delays in the DP approval. He said “Right now if with the new proposed top-down system, the Central Board can anytime approve the DP within 3-6 months upon presentation of complete documents submitted as long as the zoning and planning the aforesaid area complied, the technical comments to be handled by the Local Authorities”.
“Local Authorities concerned are duty bound to formulate and announce all policies adopted by the State Cabinet to relevant Authorities/Agencies and to property developers”, he remarked.-Sayangsabah
