KOTA KINABALU:The 10th International Level Sabah Folklore Festival saw 320 participants from 17 countries.
Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said this year’s participation is encouraging, where last year only 150 participants from nine countries took part in the festival.
“Participations of other countries have made the festival more interesting. It is also important for us to know other different cultures,” he said during the launching of the festival yesterday.
Besides from learning about other traditional costumes donned by the participants, the public are also entertained with various traditional music and dance performances, he said.
“I believe that the festival is not only celebrating cultures from various countries but also another way to exchange culture,” he added.
Abidin also hope for the festival to be held again and attract more countries to join its programme. -SayangSabah
