KOTA KINABALU: The settlement structures of the water villages in Kg. Bangau-Bangau, Semporna, which were destroyed in a fire incident will be reviewed, to make sure the planned reconstruction to be systematic and organized.
Bugaya State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Ramlee Marhaban, said currently most of the houses built by the villagers are too close with each other, disorganized, and crowded.
“These circumstances make fire spread easily when fire disaster occur,” he said in his statement, here today.
However, the state Deputy Finance Minister said only houses owned by locals will be given the priority in the restructuring process for the village.
Ramlee was commenting on the recent fire incident at the village which destroyed 250 houses and causing 2,000 residents homeless.
Based on information, the fire incident occurred at 2.00am and was successfully extinguished at 6.56am by a team of fire brigade. It was the second fire disaster case in the village.
Ramlee also calls for the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) to lend help for the fire victims.
