KOTA KINABALU: An elderly man pleaded not guilty at the Special Sessions Court on Corruption here today to receiving bribes totalling RM600,000, last year.
Chin Kee Leng, 62, was charged with receiving RM300,000 from one Alester Law Chen Tze , 31, purportedly to be given to Kota Kinabalu Land and Survey Department officers as an inducement to reduce the land premium for Lot CL.015372915 belonging to Kuala Medalam Sdn Bhd from RM2.75 million to RM1.65 million on Aug 18, 2014.
He was also charged with receiving the same amount from the same person at a parking lot in front of Hotel Promenade here at 2.15 pm on Sept 2, 2014 for the same purpose.
Judge Datuk Ishak Bakri set bail at RM10,000 with RM5,000 to be deposited for each of the charge immediately and fixed Jan 19, 2016 for case management. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuting officer Awang Samsul Baharam Bungso appeared for the prosecution while Chin was represented by counsel Chin Tek Ming and Edward Paul – BERNAMA
