SHAH ALAM: A security guard was charged in the Magistrate’s court here today with murdering his step-daughter on Jan 26.
The accused, V. Viramuthu, 38, nodded his head to indicate he understood the charge after it was read out to him by the court interpreter in Tamil before Magistrate Surya Wati Shawal.
However, no plea was recorded.
He was charged with murdering A. Kristina, 22, on that day between 8.30pm and 10.30pm, behind a shop at Jalan Musytari U5/AM, Subang, near here.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and if found guilty, face the mandatory death sentence.
The court set March 8 for re-mention pending the post-mortem and chemistry reports.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Rustam Sunip while the accused was reprsented by councel R. Mahendran Naidu.
A newspaper today reported that the security guard who had allegedly abused his step-daughter, had claimed to a doctor in Sungai Buloh Hospital, near here, that the girl was injured after an epileptic seizure and fell in a bathroom.
He brought the teenager to the hospital for treatment last Tuesday.
However, the victim was died the next day while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The report said the post-mortem revealed the victim had been strangled and suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen. – BERNAMA
