KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan 1Malaysia hopes that no cut will be made to the security budget in the next budget planning.
Member of 1Malaysia Board of Trustee, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, said security aspect is a vital element for the nation especially Sabah’s east coast.
“I hope that the government will focus on security which covers various aspects such as road safety, where there would be up to six or seven thousands deaths caused by road accidents reported annually,” he said during a press conference at Sutera Harbour City, Sembulan, yesterday.
He also express his hope for the country’s leadership to come up with an efficient and effective administration that gives services to the citizen, as well as becoming the foundation for a closer unity.
“I wish that for this year, sensitive issues will not become a hot topic and subsequently eroding our national unity. I hope the people will understand the urgency for peace and ethnic harmony,” he said.
Lee also calls for the government to give more attention to the community’s psychological health by holding more programmes for mental benefit,
At the same time Lee also urged the government to hold more programmes for the society’s mental benefit, where he said psychological problem can lead to abuse, violence, and suicide. –SayangSabah
