KOTA KINABALU: The Optopreneur College in Kuala Lumpur is offering scholarship for impoverished Sabahans to take up courses in the institute.
“In view of the growing demand of trained human resource personnel for retail business in Malaysia.
“We are now offering 60 scholarship for Sabahan students worth some RM800,000 for our Opticianary scholarships started since 1992. The intake is carry out four times in a year,” said
Optopreneur College founder and chief executive Prof Dato’ Dr Chin See Keat during a visit here yesterday.
The offer is open to all Sabahans and school leavers aged above 18 years, said Dr Chin who is the founder of England Optical in 1980 with only a single shop before expanding to 130 shops today, making them the largest optical chain store in Malaysia.
The scholarship programme started with the aim to explore more young opticians to meet the England Optical retail expansion and to create a win-win situation where the graduates would become professional Opticians cum the franchisee entrepreneur, he said.-Sayangsabah
