MIRI: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is confident that the people of Sarawak are capable of countering all negative perception caused by certain quarters against the state.
He said the current perception, which was caused by repeated circulation of untrue or semi-true information especially in cyber space, was that the state was poor and lagging behind in terms of development.
“This is so not true because the government has been balancing the urban and rural development between the peninsula and Sarawak,” he said at a dinner here tonight.
His speech text was read by Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakub.
Ahmad Zahid said the perception could be countered and corrected through the empowerment of national integration to strengthen racial unity in the state and the country as a whole.- BERNAMA
