KOTA KINABALU:- The Sabah Youth Council (SYC) will focus on forming District Youth Councils in all 26 districts in the state, starting with Sandakan, Tawau and Pedalaman Atas.
Its president, Nourman Rayn Ag. Zaini said this would benefit youths in the rural areas, building their potentials in various fields through the programmes that would be held.
Nourman Rayn said such efforts were important in order that the council’s objective of developing youths could be continued.
“The district youth councils would allow youths to become involved in development programmes and activities which are beneficial to them,” he told Bernama here today.
Nourman Rayn said he was optimistic that the district youth councils would open up new opportunities for them to develop ideas and give views through a proper platform.
Meanwhile, Nourman Rayn said the SYC also had plans to set up a special gallery to document the achievements and recognitions given to youths in the state in various fields.
He said this would record all the achievements of Sabah youths which were previously not made public.
“We have many youths who have attained recognition either within the country or internationally, yet society does not know about them.
“I hope that such a gallery would showcase the achievements of Sabah youths and at the same time become a platform which would encourage other youths to be the best,” he said.
Nourman Rayn said the achievements of youths should constantly be given recognition as a form of incentive to encourage a culture of excellence among them.
He added that the SYC Award would widen its criteria and conditions to include youths from all fields.
“It would ensure that all youths would be recognised for their achievements,” he said. – BERNAMA
