KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Liaison Body will investigate the allegation of foreigners becoming UMNO members in the state.
Its Deputy Chairman, Datuk Salleh Said Keruak (picture), said UMNO will not protect them (foreigners) and will take necessary actions to any individuals or members who are proven not to be of Malaysian citizen.
“If not a Malaysian citizen, these individuals have no rights to become UMNO members,” he said when met by reporters after giving his speech for the Integrity Empowerment Forum at Federal Administration Auditorium Complex, here today.
However, he opined that there are foreigners in the state who acquire Malaysia citizenship through legal process.
“It is wrong for foreigners to get their citizenship illegally with fake identification cards,” he said.
Previously, Salleh presented his speech titled ‘Challenges for Integrity Today’ at the forum organized by Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC), and Malaysia Integrity Institute (IIM). – SayangSabah
