SANDAKAN: The Suluk community in Sabah has condemned Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice president Nurul Izzah’s meeting with Jacel H. Kiram, daughter of former Sulu armed group leader, Jamalul Kiram III.
Nurul Izzah’s action is considered disrespectful of the people in the state especially those who had been victims during the intrusion of Sulu terrorists in Tanduo, Lahad Datu in Feb 2013.
Sabah Suluk Solidarity Council secretary, Mohd Zaki Harry Susanto said as a citizen of the country, Nurul Izzah should not have met with family members of Jamalul Kiram III who had supported the Sulu terrorist act in the Tanduo intrusion.
He said Jacel is the daughter of Jamalul Kiram III, the man who had ordered the intrusion and Jacel had outrightly supported the armed aggression in Kampung Tanduo.
“The sovereignity of the country was undermined in the Tanduo incident and yet Nurul Izzah had a meeting with someone who had supported the invasion. As the people of Sabah, we regret and condemn Nurul Izzah’s action. The Sulu terrorist intrusion in Tanduo is a painful history for the people and country,” he told Bernama today.
Jacel uploaded four photographs of her meeting with Nurul Izzah dated Nov 9 on her Facebook.
Mohd Zaki who is also chairman of the Association of Youth Communities in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) described Nurul Izzah’s action as a desperate move to gain international support.
“As a citizen and elected representative, Nurul Izzah’s action was irresponsible and she was indifferent to the feelings of those affected by the Sulu invasion in Tanduo especially family members of security forces who died in the incident,” he said.
As such, he urged the government to take action against Nurul Izzah, including banning the Lembah Pantai MP from entering Sabah.- BERNAMA
