KOTA KINABALU – The tenure of Sabah State Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman has been extended for another year, beginning today.

“Based on his vast experience and excellent service in the state public service, the state government has agreed to extend his service,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said in a statement here yesterday.

Sukarti, 61, was appointed state secretary on July 3, 2007, replacing Datuk K. Y. Mustafa who retired on July 2, 2007. Prior to his appointment as state secretary, he was director of the state civil service.

He also held other important positions in the public service, including that of senior administrative officer in the state development department, ceremonial and protocol officer in the Chief Minister’s Department and private secretary to the state governor, Tun Said Keruak.

Musa also said Datuk Abidin Madingkir would remain as Kota Kinabalu mayor for a year, beginning Feb 2. Abidin, 60, has been holding the post since Jan 31, 2011. – BERNAMA
