KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded the highest death case caused by fire compared to other states in Malaysia.
Malaysian JBPM Chief Director, Datuk Wira Hj. Wan Mohd Nor bin Hj. Ibrahim, said based on the record for Sabah and Sarawak, both states show a high statistic for fatalities caused by fire, including for a high fatal accident cases.
“I call for the public to be aware with the wiring in their homes since it is one cause of fire,” he said during a press conference for the Fire Science 1/2015 Series End of Training ceremony at Sabah Malaysian JBPM Academy, this morning.
He also urged to public to be careful when driving during the festive season, where accident rate increases up to 10% higher compared to normal days.
Meanwhile, Sabah JBPM Director, YS PKPjB Hj. Nordin bin Pauzi, said they have launched a safety campaign for the Chinese New Year season involving security aspects on important buildings.
“This campaign was first started in Sandakan one week ago, focusing on 500 buildings where regular inspection will be done,” he said during the press conference.
55 trainees took part with the training and PB Ronyka bin Raaming received the award for best participant.
Best practical trainee award was given to PB Alihuddin Ricky, and PB Khairul Anwar bin Wahab. –SayangSabah
