Sabah Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology, Datuk Siringan Gubat, the initiative will be implemented through the Career Carnival that will be launched this 1 May.
“The commitment of Sabah JTK is giving hope to the state government in its effort to provide more job opportunities for Sabah people and reduce unemployment in the state,” he said during the courtesy visit at his office by Sabah JTK Director, Kamal Pardi, and the department’s senior officers, last Friday.
According to JTK statistic, unemployment in the state has decreased to 4.7 percent this year, compared to the previous 5.1 percent.
For Sarawak and Peninsular, the unemployment rates stand at 3.8 and 2.1 percent respectively.
He also advised job seekers to be more open minded in looking for employment.
“It is common for an individual to begin from below if they have no work experience, but i am confident that they can rise to the top if they are hardworking.
“The community should not worry about salary since the rate is set according to the Minimum Wage Policy, which is also implemented in the agriculture sector,” he said.
Previously the programme successfully helped 2,581 local job seekers in five districts to find employment in five days. –SayangSabah
