Rozsall Beauty Academy gives impoverished women a head-start

KOTA KINABALU – For the 82 graduate students of Rozsall Beauty Academy, their accomplishment may represent many women and young girls coming from impoverished families.

It is common in Sabah especially for those who come from rural area that after finishing their SPM furthering education is rather difficult.

Apart from financial constraints, access to information and training programmes are lacking as they live in remote village with transportation problem.

Thus, the initiative from government to create women empowerment programmes through education and training can assist these women.

This is where Rozsall Beauty Academy fit the bill as the institute is not just about training and learning.

“We want to groom these young girls and women to become a responsible human beings; to have a purpose in their life,” said the Rozsall Sdn Bhd director Salina Ali in her speech at the academy graduation at Ming Garden Hotel, here today.

According to Salina the beauty industry is one of the bustling industry that won’t be affected by the flow of the economy.

“This industry is a promising industry. It is a professional field that I believe will give our students an opportunity to excel not just in their career but also in life,” she said.

For Estherlea Nazarius, 32 a housewife from Tamparuli taking part in the programme benefited her in so many ways.

This mother of three daughters said that her interest in grooming and beauty has made her to join the academy.

“I think I have made the right decision to enroll in this programme. You never thought that a simple changes can get you far and that’s what is happening to me,” she said to SayangSabah after receiving the Exemplary Student Award.

This young mother is currently working at Rozsall Salon and Beauty in Oceanus Waterfront Mall.

“The most important thing is to take the risk and be courageous. There will be time we may faces challenges but that will only make us stronger. So don’t give up and keep on trying,” she said.

She pointed out that hard work with positive thinking and continuous effort are the key of success. – By Fizah Yusof/SayangSabah
