KUDAT: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak approved the construction of a ramp for roll-on- roll-off (RORO) service connecting Kudat and Palawan in the Philippines and a new coastal highway from Tuaran to Kudat.
The RORO project costing RM8.84 million will spur business opportunities to Kudat whilst the construction of the highway will start in 2017 as the Premier has allocated RM12 billion for road developments in Budget 2016.
Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang disclosed during the 111th anniversary celebration of Kudat Chinese Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) here recently.
On another note, Teo said KCCC was established by a group of Hakka people from China who settled in Kudat some 130 years ago to pursue the interest of Chinese business community and preserved its education and culture.
“Wherever the sun shines, there are Chinese people. Wherever there are Chinese people, there will be trade and commerce,” he said and urged the Chinese business community in Kudat to create more employment opportunities to prevent brain drain and stimulate the local economy.-Sayangsabah
