KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) will collect DNA sample from the family of Bernard Then Ted Fen and send it to the Philippine for confirmation.
Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said this is to confirm whether the body found in Indanan, Jolo on Tuesday belongs to Then, 39, who was said to have been beheaded by his Abu Sayyaf kidnappers.
“We will get DNA samples from the family and will send it to the Philippine for testing. We also have to wait for the body that was found in Indanan to be brought back to Manila for testing,” he told reporters yesterday.
Then was beheaded by his Abu Sayyaf kidnappers after negotiations for his released broken down.
The beheading also came just after a week after Abu Sayyaf freed Thien Nyuk Fun, the 50year- old Ocean King Seafood Restaurant manager who was kidnapped along with Then.- Albert Goh/Sayangsabah
