KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Yacht Club today received five optimist sailboats from the Sabah Sailing Association (SAILA).
SAILA president Christopher Chin handed over the sailboats to Naval Region 2 Rear Admiral, Datuk Khairul Anuar Yahya in a ceremony held at the Kota Kinabalu RMN base in Teluk Sepanggar near here today.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Khairul Anuar said the contribution was timely as the Navy Yacht Club was conducting basic training in sailing for primary school students.
“With these optimist sailboats, we can tap into the talents of children frombas young as seven, to reach higher levels,” he said.
He expressed gratitude for the contribution and hoped both parties couldbwork together in implementing training programmes for the development of thebsport.
“Such collaboration is in line with the goal of the RMN top level managementband government under the National Blue Ocean Strategy initiative to create better rapport between the Navy and the community.”- BERNAMA
