RM2.4 mln aid given to 11,335 families affected by floods ?Jainab

KENINGAU: The State Welfare Services Department had so far spent RM2.4 million to help flood victims in Keningau, Tenom , Beaufort, Membakut and Nabawan involving 11,335 families, said Minister of Resource Development and Consumer Affairs Datuk Jainab Ahmad.

She said the aid, among others,comprised cooked food, cooking utensils, dried food, school uniforms and stationery which were distributed during and after the recent floods that hit several districts.

Speaking at the distribution of government assistance to flood victims at Kampung Ansip here yesterday, Jainab said the distribution of aid was to lighten the burden and hardship of flood victims.

Also present were the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, Janet KL Chee, Welfare Services Department director Etong Terang , chairman of the Bureau of Women’s Affairs Eraser Sabah, Datuk Haji Sadikun Suriname and other senior officers.
