RM 20k to be won in JFL championship

KOTA KINABALU – Mixed martial arts (MMA) of Jesselton Fight League (JFL) quarterfinals will award championship belt and prize money totalling RM20,000 to the winner on this Saturday match.

The tournament will be held in Foo Chow Hall, Luyang from 7pm until midnight.

This time around, there will be 13 bouts with 26 fighters dueling for the semifinalist spots. The main event for the quarterfinals will be a welterweight bout between Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA) Season 1 heavyweight champion from Team NOMAD, Adrian Tham and Muay Thai Specialist from DIHNAR MMA, Shafiq Akmal.

There will also be two co-main events featuring a flyweight bout between Writh Kataposan (Keningau MMA) and Eddy Kalai (Kalai Boxing) as well as a lightweight bout between Terence Bungkilim (Karabaw MMA) and Samuel Lai (Borneo Tribal Squad).

Contestants from Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia, as well as other Asian countries will also be participating.

The JFL ladder match will have a 3×3 minute-round format in which fighters will fight for three rounds of three minutes each.
