KOTA KINABALU, – Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman says there is a need to review water resources management in the state.
He said the review was required in ensuring efficient water management in the state to balance water demand between the socio-economic, including industrial and agriculture and the important of protecting water catchment areas.
For that purpose, he called on all parties ranging from government agencies to non-governmental organisations, and the people to work together in supporting efficient management of water to ensure Sabah water resources were not contaminated and were in reliable and safe supply.
“It is a fact that rain does not necessarily fall in areas where it is most required. For this reason, water resources in Sabah need to be managed more effectively,” said Musa, who is also state finance minister.
He said this in his speech text delivered by his deputy, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan at the Sabah State Level World Water Day Conference and Exhibition 2015 here today.
During the two-day conference, 14 papers will be presented.-BERNAMA
