KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman today urged the people to continue to foster mutual respect and a high level of tolerance to enable all festivals to be celebrated together in peace and goodwill.
In his Christmas message, he said mutual respect and celebrating all festivals together were part of the culture in the state where understanding and harmony prevailed.
“We are always ready to accept and appreciate the diversity among us as well as respect the uniqueness of the customs and traditions that make any festival meaningful,” he said.
Musa said Malaysians, especially those in Sabah, should continue to face challenges at a time when certain quarters were out to undermine unity.
He reminded the people not to squander the sacrifices made for independence by past leaders and allow irresponsible actions to undermine the development and progress achieved so far.
Musa, who is chairman of the State Security Committee, said the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) and the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) instilled confidence in tourists and investors.
He also took the opportunity to express his thanks and appreciation to the security forces personnel who had to forgo being with their families during the festival because of duty. – BERNAMA
