TENOM: Some 468 residents from four villages involving 142 families were relocated to evacuation centres by the Natural Disaster Committee following the flood situation in the district, around 4.00pm today.
District Officer, Madiyem Layapan, said the water level of Padas River has increased to 176.98m by 4.00pm yesterday due to the heavy rain since Tuesday, causing flood in several villages.
The affected villages are Kg. Ponontomon, Kg. Labut 1, Kg. Labut 2, and Kg. Lalandang, he added.
He also expected a higher number of evacuees since the registration process is still ongoing since yesterday’s evening.
Food relief from the Welfare Department has also been distributed to the flood victims. -SayangSabah
