KOTA KINABALU: Civil and human rights activist Datuk Patrick Sindu calls for all village chiefs and JKKK leaders to report any illegal electricity connection in their areas to the authority and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) so that immediate action can be taken.
He said the move is to ensure no losses experienced by SESB and to prevent unwanted incident such as death by electric shock.
“Based on complaints and previous case, many have died due to electric shock due to illegal wiring. The villagers especially its chief and JKKK leaders know more about the communities in their area and most illegal immigrants (PATI) make their own illegal electricity connection and hide their cables in bushes.
“This is dangerous for villagers and the public who may pass by these areas especially in raining season. We do not want the incident in Sandakan two days ago to happen again. That is why village chiefs and JKKK leaders should report these activities so that the offenders can be brought to justice,” he said.
Patrick was commenting on the statement by Sabah JBPM Director, Nordin Pauzi, who wants immediate actions to be carried out to handle illegal wiring and ensure no similar incident involving firefighters to happen again. – SayangSabah
