RANAU – Ranau is arguably a holiday destination worth looking up in this part of the region.
There are many tourism spot that are fascinating to both domestic and international tourists. This includes the amazing diversity of the flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to this part of the world.
There is also Mount Kinabalu, a favourite destination, the highest Mountain in South East Asia and incorporated in the Kinabalu Park which is a World Heritage Site.
In this respect, cleanliness and the preservation of a green environment is crucial for its tourism continuity.
“The local authorities played a crucial role in keeping the cleanliness of the Ranau district. They need to ensure facilities like rubbish bins, public toilets and the local drainage and irrigation are taken care of,” Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said in his speech during the oath taking and handover of appointment letters to members of the Ranau District Council, here, on Monday.
On other note, Ranau district council is planning to upgrade the existing vegetable stalls to a new stalls that is more convenience for the stall owners and visitors.
“With the new stalls it can change the landscape of Kundasang and I hope this can be implemented this year,” he said.
Masidi also urged the council to relocate the monthly Tamu to Kampung Sinarut Lama to solve the traffic congestion in that area.
The oath taking ceremony introduced 18 council members who received their appointments and only five new faces were appointed. – SayangSabah
