KUDAT: There will be a roll-on-roll-off service connecting Kudat to Brooke’s Point in Palawan by this year.

To facilitate this service a ram will be constructed, the Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang, said adding that once completed it will boost the tourism and trade activities between Palawan and Kudat.

According to him, the service will also strengthen security and safety of tourists and traders plying the route between Palawan and Kudat, he said during a visit to the Custom, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) Centre recently.

The CIQS centre was set up after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visited Kudat in October 2013, recalled Teo.

He said the CIQS centre started its operation from a container office before moving to the Kudat Port Authority building and fully operational since last year.

“I am confident the CIQS centre will not only spur the development of tourism and trade but also resolve the illegal foreign workers issue as they have to enter Kudat via a designated point before they can get employment” he said.- Sayangsabah
