Meanwhile preparatory works are being done to decorate the hall and other rooms in the PWTC building with various buntings and posters of UMNO’s current and past leaders.

Carpets have also been laid out at every nook and corner of PWTC to give it an exclusive look while the dining venue is also decorated with red hued tablecloths.

Similarly media personnel from the various media agencies were busy preparing their respective media room to facilitate easy and fast news transmission of their coverages.

As for exhibitions and sales, kisk and retail booths have began to be installed with some traders already getting ready their sales products on display.

UMNO executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh said preparation for the big event was now 80 per cent completed and in the final stage.

“All preparations are running smoothly and according to plan. We are at the stage of improving any shortcomings, in any, for the view of the secretariat and those involved,” he told Bernama when met here today.

Ab Rauf said lots for corporate sales were sold out but there are an increase of 400 booths for SME retail space.

Asked on the number of delegates expected at the general assembly, he said 2,792 delegates nationwide would convene while over 200,000 visitors were expected throughout the conference.

“We have received many requests from parties outside the country to participate in this event, and I can state here that a very well-known party from the United States (name not disclosed) will join in for the first time in
the history of UMNO general assembly,” he said.

For batik fabric trader, Puteri Nur Anisa, 45, from Shah Alam, the PAU 2015 is a golden opportunity for her to earn lucrative business returns.

“This is the third time I have set up a booth here (PAU), I certainly will not miss the chance to trade here as from past experience, the income we received is very lucrative,” she said.

She also commended the efficiency of the management of PWTC and UMNO for being professional in their dealings, especially in accommodating the needs of the traders at the general assembly.
