KOTA KINABALU: A Filipino was sentenced to 16 months jail by the Magistrate Court for possessing an identification card belonged to another person.
The Magistrate, Cindy Mc Juce Balitus, also ordered the accused, Jumat Mohamad, aged 45, to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his jail time.
According to the fact of case, the accused was charged with committing the offence at Jalan Pantai Sembulan, at 9.26pm on 3 July.
“Police inspecting the accused found the photo on the Mykad to be different from his face,” the Prosecutor Officer, Inspector Henry Is Fandiar, told the court.
The accused also admitted to have bought the identification card for RM400 from an unknown individual.
Jumat was charged under Section 25 (1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (2001 Amendment) which carries the punishment of three years jail or fine up to RM20,000. – SayangSabah
