KENINGAU: An illegal immigrant (PTI) was caught by the police under the suspicion of possessing illegal DVDs without B certificates.
District Police Chief, DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong, said the PTI man who has no identification document was arrested by a team of police from Keningau IPD Commercial Crimes Investigation Division during a monitoring operation on the selling of illegal DVD/CDs in the district township.
He said the man suspected of selling illegal DVD/CDs was arrested by police along with 52 DVDs of various titles with no B certificates and a sling bag.
“The confiscated items have been brought to Keningau IPD for further action and investigation under Section 18 (4) of the Film Censorship Act 2002, which carries the punishment of RM30,000 to RM50,000 fine or jail up to 3 years, or both,” he said during a press conference at the district IPD last Monday.
He said the suspect will also be charged under Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act. –SayangSabah
