KOTA KINABALU: The public should be directly involved in providing better transportation facilities to help the disabled (OKU) for their comfort and able to live normally.
Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, said transportation is an important facility needed by handicapped individuals especially those with mobility problem.
“OKU individuals especially those in rural areas require transportation that they can use with comfort and help them to get employment, education, and welfare service,” she said.
Jainab was attending the Toyota Hiace Window Van Donation Presentation ceremony by the Japanese government, represented by its consulate, Shinji Utabayashi San, for Sabah Cheshire Home welfare organization.
The van is equipped with electronic supports to help individuals with disability to get inside the vehicle.
Jainab also commended Sabah Cheshire Home for helping the OKUs to join the communities. – SayangSabah
