TENOM: Local music composed by our very own artists need to be promoted in the state, to give them the much needed edge in competing with national and international contemporary music.

UMNO Youth Liaison Chief, Jamawi Jaafar, stressed this matter related with the organizing of ‘Juara Lagu 2015 Keningau.fm’ which has attracted youths with talents in singing, composing, and local music.

He said, the talent and potential of Sabah-born in entertainment industry cannot be denied as more young talents in music from the state has made a name for themselves through various singing competition, and reality programme at the national level.

“With more competition such as this, it will help the local music industry along with other music lovers in the country as it will diversify the nation’s entertainment sector,” he said in his speech for officiating the Juara Lagu 2015 Keningau.fm at Dewan Masyarakat Datuk Seri Panglima Entenom, here yesterday.

In the competition, Punch FT Nokuro 29 band received the Best Performer award, while the winner for SMS Vote Popular category was Fetree Sarigi with his song Naupus Ra Nambilinan. The Best Lyric category was grabbed by Honest with the song Bebas.

Championing the Dusun Song category was Tom Kudud who sang Mokiampu Oku. Intopto of Key Deet Kaje was selected as the winner for Murut Song category, and for Si Kici by Atmesfera won the Bahasa Malaysia category. – SayangSabah
