Progress in sustainable use of resources

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government have been commended for passionately strive to come up with the best solutions to achieve sustainable and efficient use of resources.

“I’m glad to say that much progress have been made in our understanding of the importance of sustainable use of resources,” said Institut Sinaran board of governors chairman Fong Tet Kong.

For example, we currently have four million hectares of sustainable managed forests, mangrove, marine and wildlife reserves and sanctuaries in Sabah, said Fong during the ‘11th Institut Sinaran Environment Day 2015’ held at its campus in Jalan Tuaran bypass yesterday.

“As citizens of this land we have the responsibility to ensure that we pursue development without harming the environment.”

“We need to learn from other countries which have neglected their environment in the name of progress,” said Fong in the event held in conjunction with the ‘World Environment Day’ and with theme ‘7 Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care’.-Sayangsabah
