KENINGAU: The public needs to change their unhealthy diet and lifestyle to avoid chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart related disease.

Minister in The Prime Minister’s Office, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, said the citizens in the country especially Sabah have to be more concerned with their health and practice a healthy diet, exercise, and stress release activities, as well as cut down on cigarette and alcohol.

According to the Pensiangan MP, being health-conscious will help individuals to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses.

“A healthy lifestyle needs to be prioritized by the public. The nation’s success depends on the well-being of its people,” he said in his speech for officiating the NBOS Health Carnival Programme at Padang SK Sinua, here yesterday.

Kurup said, studies has shown that health awareness among Malaysians are still low where most are neglecting the issues and not undergoing medical checkup regularly. – SayangSabah
