KOTA KINABALU: The government through the Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB) with the cooperation of the Prime Minister Office is planning to expand the 1Malaysia Public Employees Housing Programme (PPA1M) to other districts such as Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tawau, and Tuaran.
The state Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Zakaria Edris, said the government has planned to build houses specifically for public employees in Sabah.
“PPA1M project sites in Tuaran, Papar, and Lahad Datu have been identified while for other districts it is still being worked on,” he said during the DUN Assembly.
He was responding to Datuk Samsudin Yahya (BN-Sekong) about the suggestion to increase PPA1M projects with the inclusion of Sandakan.
He also said 1,296 PPA1M housing units are being built in LPPB lands in Kinarut Selatan, Papar.
“The size of the PPA1M houses are 900×350 sq. feet with the selling price of RM220,000 to RM270,000 per unit,” he added.
The selling price, however, will be based on the qualification for housing loan of the interested public employee, he explained. –SayangSabah
