KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman was sentenced to eight months’ jail and fined RM10,000, in default six months’ jail, by the Sessions Court here
today for accepting bribe of RM800.
Judge Allaudeen Ismail handed down the sentence on Lance Corporal Muhammad Nazruldin Chee Chau Vui, 35, after finding him guilty of the offence. Muhammad Nazruldin, from the Patrol Branch, Public Order Division, Cheras police headquarters, was ordered to serve the jail sentence from today.
However, the court granted a stay of the sentence following Muhammad Nazruldin’s request to appeal against the conviction and sentence at the High
Court. Muhammad Nazruldin was also required to pay the fine, which he did.
He was charged with accepting the bribe as an inducement to cover up an illegal activity by one Lanny Ong Boon Hsien, 33.
The offence was committed at the McDonald’s Restaurant, Taman Connaught, Jalan Cendikiawan, Petaling here at 6.45 pm on June 4, 2013.
In mitigation, Muhammad Nazruldin, who was unrepresented, said he had a family, including his parents, to support.
