KENINGAU: Police is tracking down a 19-year old male suspected of raping an under-aged girl in a hotel at the town around 5.00pm on 23 February.
District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Douglas Taong, said a police report was only made at Keningau District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 2.42pm on 4 March by the victim’s mother.
According to Douglas, the 16 years old girl who is still a student told her mother on 22 February at 1.00pm that she was raped by her male friend twice, at a hotel in Pekan Keningau.
“The victim has been referred to Keningau Hospital for examination and the suspect has been identified and now pursued by the police, he said in a press statement at Keningau IPD, here today.
In another case, a 15 years old female student was reported has been raped while under alcohol influence by five male students from the same school, aged 14 to 15 years old, in a four-wheel-drive belonged to one of the suspect’s father, at a recreation park near here on Sunday.
The police have detained all five suspects at the school the next day at 11.30am after receiving a report from the victim’s sister who claimed something has happened to her sister which is now held at the ward in Keningau Hospital.
“Before the incident, all five suspects invited the victim and another female student to drink alcohol at the recreation park. When the victim passed out, the suspects took turns to rape her,” Douglas said.
He added that one more suspect and a female student who is the victim’s friend suspected to be involved with the case have been detained and investigated under Section 476 of the Penal Code, with the20 years imprisonment and caning as a punishment, if found guilty. – SayangSabah
