Police investigates Indonesian tresspassers

polis

TUARAN:  Police will investigate the incident in which 17 Indonesians including 10 police and army personnel were detained for
allegedly trespassing into Malaysia through Pulau Sebatik, Tawau, yesterday.

Deputy IGP Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said although the personnel were Indonesian authorities, their action to enter Malaysia without going through immigration, and bringing in firearms, constituted an offence.

“Their intention might have been to identify and bring back a suspect involved in the murder of a soldier, but they did it improperly.

“We will prepare the report immediately and look at it from all aspects including our good relations and the intention as well as the deputy public prosecutor’s views,” he told reporters.

He said this after closing the Lembayung Hidayah Saudara Baharu Siri 2/2015 Zon Sabah programme here today.

The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Firearms Act 1960.- BERNAMA
