YAN: A joyous picnic outing turned into tragedy for a 51-year-old man and his family when he died after accidentally falling into a ravine at Gunung Jerai Forest Park Resort, near here, about 4.30pm.

Yan District Police chief, DSP Muhamad Halim Yatim said the victim, identified as Ishak Ibrahim, was from Kepala Batas, Penang.

“It is understood that the victim, his wife and children had come here for a picnic around 2.30pm and by 4.30pm his son was looking for him to have lunch together but he found his father in a 15-metre deep ravine.  Immediately the Guar Chempedak fire brigade was contacted and they found the victim’s body on the rocky slopes of the ravine, not far from the picnic area,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The body was sent to the Yan Hospital. – BERNAMA
