SIPITANG: It was all smiles when patients received “Get Well Soon” gifts from PETRONAS through its Sentuhan Kasih programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative carried out at Hospital Sipitang, here, on 16 December 2015.
Organised by PETRONAS Chemicals Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), the programme saw PETRONAS’ volunteers distributegifts such as food hampers and essential toiletries kits.
Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Chemicals Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd, Tuan Haji Mohd Iskandar Bakeri, said that PETRONAS fully appreciates the importance of contributing to the well-being of the people in a sustainable manner, wherever it operates.
“Thus, all PETRONAS’ endeavours have taken into account socioeconomic and environmental sustainability in achieving its commercial objectives.It is our sincere hope that this small gesture brings cheer to the patients, and helps alleviate the burden of some of their families.”
Tuan Haji Mohd Iskandar added that aside from the Sentuhan Kasih programme,PETRONASalso carries out other similar programmes in Sipitang, for instance Back to School programme, Iftar and Hari Raya events with Sipitang community, Majlis Korban during Hari Raya Aidil Adhaas well as contributions to underprivileged students.
Also present at the event was Director of Sipitang Hospital, Dr Christopher Charles Chau.
Sentuhan Kasih is a programme that reaches out to the less fortunate during festive seasons throughout the year. Launched in 2005, the programme also aims to nurture the spirit of giving and volunteerism among PETRONAS’ employees and affiliates by providing them with a platform to connect with members of the community by contributing their time, skills and experience.
Sentuhan Kasih is part of astable of signature programmes that are designed and implemented to benefit deserving communities, as part of PETRONAS’ larger CSR commitment of giving back to the people wherever it operates.-Sayangsabah
