KUALA LUMPUR: Organization of Islamic Welfare and Dakwah of Malaysia (Pekida) denies the allegation that its central committee is unlawful for not following the organization’s constitution.
Its general secretary, Dato’ Bakri Ali Mohamad, said the accusation made by one of the state Pekida chairman also raise unsubstantiated claim that the Pekida President, Jamaludin Yusof, has abused his power.
“The selection of the 2013-2016 central committee and the constitution draft amendment had been agreed and approved in the 2012 and 2013 annual grand meeting,” he said in a statement.
However, he did not deny that the draft amendment is to give power to the president to carry his task without having to refer to the central committee including for the action to replace state Pekida chairman.
“The president has never sacked a chairman, instead he only replace state (Pekida) chairman who has failed to uphold the duty entrusted to him,” he said, adding that he regret with the actions of certain members who prefer to make statements outside the group.
“Every central committee member can discuss various issues in the committee meeting without resorting to making statement outside to the public,” he said.
Recently Sabah Pekida Liaison Committee Chairman, Datu Akjan Datu Ali Muhammad in a press conference in Kota Kinabalu urged the Registrar of Society (ROS) to suspend and investigate all activities and programmes by Pekida.
Akjan also claimed that the current list of central committee is unlawful for it is against the organization’s constitution. – SayangSabah
