KENINGAU: The district Malaysia Royal Police (PDRM) is taking seriously the crimes involving school students and under-aged teenagers recently, which includes the increasing rape cases.
District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Douglas Taong, said they will take a drastic measure to approach school students through its Police Community Programmes in all the secondary schools in the district.
“The programmes are to encourage teachers and parents’ involvement in tackling societal problems among school students. Their cooperation is important in reducing students’ misbehaviors as well as helping in moulding their disciplines and morality,” he said to reporters after the Police Community Programme and School Roadshow by Keningau IPD with the teachers, students, and parents at SMK Nabawan II.
Douglas said, the Police Community Programme will be continued and expanded to other schools in areas covered by Keningau IPD, which are Keningau, Tambunan, and Nabawan, including Sook and Pegalungan sub-districts.
Also present at the event were SMK Nabawan II Principal, Mike Eping, SMK Nabawan PIBG President, Ami Talu, police senior officers, and community leaders. – SayangSabah
